What happens when youth and caregivers learn self-defense together? Our Generational Healing Karate Workshop in Colorado created space for AANHPI families to build confidence, communication, and safety together.

Before the first journal page is filled or the first friendship clicks into place, there are people already holding space for your child. From artists and herbalists to our incredible high school camp guides, meet the intergenerational team of AANHPI change-makers leading our 2026 summer program, "Rooted in Joy," at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Get to know their stories, their favorite home dishes, and the wisdom they are bringing to our middle schoolers this July.

In Café for a Day, students in Asian Girls Ignite’s High School Leadership Program moved beyond discussion and into real-world practice. Over three sessions, AANHPI youth in Denver designed, planned, and ran a pay-what-you-can pop-up café, directing all proceeds to community organizations they selected together. This experiential learning model transforms identity exploration into civic engagement, student-led philanthropy, and measurable leadership development.

Each summer, Asian Girls Ignite students create a collective art project rooted in storytelling, identity, and connection. In 2025, students explored the theme I Am Powerful by weaving individual stories into a shared work that reflects how community grows through care, patience, and presence.

Asian Girls Ignite’s Filipino Holiday Social 2025 was a multigenerational celebration of cultural wellness, youth storytelling, and identity-affirming spaces for AANHPI youth in Colorado. Through food, dance, and shared traditions, families experienced how cultural programming builds belonging, resilience, and long-term community impact.

The 2025 AGI Wellness Grant supports student-defined care for Colorado AANHPI girls and gender-expansive youth. Meet this year’s recipients and learn how community support makes youth wellness possible.

At our AANHPI community self-defense workshop in Lakewood, Colorado, Asian Girls Ignite and Imperial Jiu Jitsu & Kickboxing created a supportive space where youth and families strengthened safety awareness, practiced boundary-setting, and built real-world confidence through practical, empowerment-based training.

AppreciAsian Affair 2025 brought together donors, partners, parents, and youth to celebrate five years of impact, honoring Chef Penelope Wong and the voices of AANHPI students reclaiming belonging, leadership, and cultural pride through Asian Girls Ignite.

Community Care 101 brought AANHPI high schoolers together with storyteller Huệ Helen Nguyễn to explore identity, belonging, and community care. Through stories, reflection, and hands-on action, students learned how small acts of support strengthen connection and youth leadership.

At the Roller Dome in Denver, AANHPI girls and gender-expansive youth in grades 6-8 explored courage, teamwork, and belonging through Asian Girls Ignite’s Roll With It: Beginner Roller Derby workshop.

What began as a choreography workshop became a lesson in listening to the body, trusting the process, and letting joy lead. Through movement and community, students found the courage to be seen, not as flawless performers, but as young people growing into their power.

Each fall, Asian Girls Ignite hosts Diwali CelebrAsian, where AANHPI youth create a joyful and welcoming space for community, storytelling, and tradition. Led by 10th graders Jessica and Priya, the celebration brings families together through light, connection, and cultural pride.

AGI students explored what it means to take creative risks in a sweet and inspiring workshop with local pastry chef and entrepreneur Thoa Nguyen. Through storytelling, and cake decorating, students discovered how creativity, courage, and identity come together, one swirl of frosting at a time.

On a bright fall morning, youth from Asian Girls Ignite and Convivir Colorado came together for a day of connection, leadership, and joy. Designed and led by students, the AGI x Convivir Youth Summit created space for belonging, dialogue, and cross-community friendships that continue to inspire long after the event.

Nearly 70 students and families joined us for Invite to Ignite: Open House, a celebration of food, friendship, and community. Through brunch, student panels, affirmation portraits, and creative stations, families experienced the many ways AGI fosters belonging and connection for AANHPI girls and gender-expansive youth.

Our annual Picnic & Paddle brought families together for a joyful day of paddleboarding, play, and delicious food. From first-time adventures on the water to shared meals and laughter on shore, we celebrated community, culture, and connection in the heart of Colorado’s great outdoors.

Wellness looks different for everyone. Four Colorado AANHPI students will each receive $500 to support their self-care through the 2025 AGI Wellness Grant.

The AGI Family Campout was a joyful gathering of Colorado AANHPI families, filled with paddle boarding, campfire s’mores, cultural games, and lasting connections. In partnership with CACEN and Outdoor Asian Colorado, we created a space to slow down, enjoy nature, and strengthen our community.
