Take a chance to slow down, breathe, and notice what your child’s body has been trying to tell them.
Christine Young, herbalist and owner of Hearth and Seoul, is joining Asian Girls Ignite for an afternoon built around paying attention to yourself. Your middle schoolers will spend time with a handful of herbs, beyond just glancing at them, but smelling, tasting, touching, looking, even listening to what they sound like crushed between their fingers. Your middle schoolers will draw what they notice and learn where each one comes from.
Once they know them, they’ll blend a tea of their own. Maybe something to calm them down, maybe something to help them feel more grounded, whatever their body’s asking for that day. What matters most is how they feel while they’re making it.
What to expect
A five-senses exploration of herbs: smell, taste, touch, sight, and sound
Drawing and learning about each herb before blending
A custom tea blend made with their own intention
Time to breathe, tune in, and honor what their body needs

Asian Girls Ignite is exactly what I wish I had when I was growing up, it's really inspiring to know that there's a program where storytellers can connect with youth to inspire and offer a point of view that might be helpful for them. A place for them to gather, socialize and be validated in their own unique identity and experiences.
